Building Confidence in Public Speaking Through Improv

On Thursday, January 21, 2021, OCCDL hosted its first Professional Development event of 2021: Building Confidence in Public Speaking Through Improv with master of the fine art of comedy and improv coach Erik Escobar! Erik led the group of attendees (which included a few law students and several associates from local OC firms) through improv exercises that directly apply to lawyering skills in the courtroom/boardroom, such as active listening, quick thinking, and story-telling. We had great feedback on the quality of the event, and everyone had fun! We hope to see you at our upcoming Professional Development events in 2021!

Speaker: Erik Escobar is a comedian who has performed all over the United States at clubs, colleges, and theatres and opening for acts such as Rex Navarrete and Jerry Seinfeld. You can catch him on NBC’s Last Comic Standing, Buzzfeed, VH1, the upcoming feature film VHYes alongside Tim Robbins and Thomas Lennon, and his own TEDTalk out of Carroll College in 2020.
